Chelsea's Robben in new Real Madrid talks

Representatives of Chelsea winger Arjen Robben are in talks with Real Madrid.

The Sun says Robben's lawyer was in Madrid last night for secret talks over the winger's transfer to the Bernabeu. Impatient Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon wants the Chelsea ace signed by the end of the week.

Ton Smit, who is having discussions with Real's sporting director Predrag Mijatovic, is a friend of the Robben family.

He helped prepare the Dutchman's £12million move from PSV Eindhoven to Stamford Bridge three years ago as well as his commercial contracts.

Real want £16m-rated Robben to put pressure on the Blues to allow him to leave and bring down his value. But Robben will not spark a row between the clubs and will obey his Chelsea orders.

He said: "I've known Real want me for some time but, at the moment, I am a Chelsea player. That's the reality. I'm good at Chelsea."

Robben has joined the Blues' pre-season tour of America and is waiting for Real to table an official bid.

He added: "I don't know if there has been contact between the clubs and, unless things change, I'm a Chelsea player for the next couple of seasons."
