Representatives of Chelsea winger Arjen Robben are in talks with Real Madrid.
Ton Smit, who is having discussions with Real's sporting director Predrag Mijatovic, is a friend of the Robben family.
He helped prepare the Dutchman's £12million move from PSV Eindhoven to Stamford Bridge three years ago as well as his commercial contracts.
Real want £16m-rated Robben to put pressure on the Blues to allow him to leave and bring down his value. But Robben will not spark a row between the clubs and will obey his Chelsea orders.
He said: "I've known Real want me for some time but, at the moment, I am a Chelsea player. That's the reality. I'm good at Chelsea."
Robben has joined the Blues' pre-season tour of America and is waiting for Real to table an official bid.
He added: "I don't know if there has been contact between the clubs and, unless things change, I'm a Chelsea player for the next couple of seasons."
