Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has no regrets in rattling Lionel Messi for his failed spotkick last week.

Ivanovic is suspended for the Champions League final after the booking he picked up for scuffing his boot on the penalty spot as Barcelona star Messi prepared to take a spot-kick.

Messi went on to blast the ball against the bar.

The Serb said: "A lot of guys congratulated me straight after the game - they didn't know I'd been booked. I did everything to try to make him lose a little bit of concentration - it is a small thing you can use in a moment, the same as the goalkeeper taking the ball and not giving it to the guy.

"I don't think it was why Messi missed, it was just something psychological. It was the first time I had done it - I don't think I'll do it again."
