Chelsea's Drogba hit with violent conduct charge

The FA has charged Chelsea striker Didier Drogba with violent conduct after throwing a coin at Burnley fans during the Carling Cup fourth-round tie on Wednesday. The Football Association and the Metropolitan Police confirmed on Thursday they were investigating.

The FA have also written to Burnley to request information on missiles thrown at Chelsea players from the Burnley section at Stamford Bridge.

A statement on the FA website said: "Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has been charged with violent conduct. Drogba is alleged to have thrown a missile into the away section of the crowd after scoring during the League Cup match at Stamford Bridge."
