Chelsea defender Ashley Cole insists England will not blow their chance to qualify for the finals in South Africa next summer. Three Lions coach Fabio Capello has transformed the side from under-achievers to genuine World Cup contenders.
"It is almost there now, the World Cup, everyone can feel it," explained Cole in the Daily Express. "But you don't want to say anything just in case something goes wrong.
"But with this group of players we have got, we know there's one big game to go, we know how important it is to us and the country.
"I think we will go out, do a good job and get the result. It's been a great campaign so far.
"It has just clicked. We are gelling together, starting to play more as a team. And even when we are not playing well, we are still getting the results.
"If we can beat Croatia and qualify, then there might be big things to come from this squad. You look around the team, there's world-class players. We have to be doing better than what we have achieved before."
