Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger is being watched by Chelsea.
The Daily Star Sunday says the centre-half, 21, was a summer target for West Ham but a combination of a £7million asking price and the player's determination to join a top club meant any deal was put on hold.
Rudiger is being touted as an up-and-coming defender of great promise and his valuation makes him more attractive than the likes of Raphael Varane, 21, at Real Madrid, who would now cost about £40m.
