Chelsea target Dembele confirms AZ Alkmaar departure

AZ Alkmaar striker Moussa Dembele has confirmed he will leave the Dutch club at the end of the season.

The Belgium international, who has been linked with Chelsea in the past, will be sold at season's end so he does not leave the club on a free transfer in 2011 and is now eyeing a club with whom he can play Champions League.

"I think I can handle a higher level. Barcelona is perhaps too high, but I am of Champions League level," he told the AZ newsletter.

Dembele added that he has improved as a player over the past few seasons and gave special praise to former AZ boss Louis van Gaal for helping him develop.

"Especially under Louis van Gaal, I learned a lot," added the 22-year old.

"The development that I've made would not have been greater at another club. But now both the club and for me the time to take leave of each other."
