Chelsea talent Todd Kane stepping up injury recovery

Chelsea youngster Todd Kane is stepping up his return from a serious knee injury.

The 23-year-old defender sustained a torn ACL in April while on loan with Dutch club NEC Nijmegen, cutting this short his impressive stint in the Eredivisie.

Kane, who joined the Blues academy in 2001, has revealed that he is nicely along on his road to recovery and plans to be an available option for Antonio Conte in the not too distant future.

“I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel," Kane told the Daily Mail .

“I've made good progress. It is five months now since my operation. I am trying to get stronger in my legs. The club have been great.

Kurt Zouma had the same injury, and at the start of the summer I was working with him and talking.

“I'll be doing a bit of non-contact training in six to eight weeks, starting to get a feel of the ball. I will train with the younger age groups to get used to moving, then work my way up and get match fitness.

“It has been the hardest thing I have had to deal with in my career. I have never had a serious injury. It has made me grow as a person, made my mind much stronger. I just have to be patient and not rush it."
