Former Liverpool star Graeme Souness has praised Chelsea fans for applauding Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard has been subject of much ridicule among Blues supporters following his infamous slip during a clash between the two clubs at Stamford Bridge last season, which undoubtedly cost the Reds the Premier League title.
However, the Chelsea fans were very gracious towards the Liverpool captain by applauding him off the pitch during the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and former player Souness has praised the Blues faithful for their gesture.
"I thought the Chelsea supporters showed real class there," Souness said on Sky Sports.
"They got after him for all the game and have done in previous games to this, but I think in the cold light of day tomorrow he'll want to thank them.
"It's typical of Steven - the thing he's disappointed about is not winning today. Ovations for him are not that important on his agenda. I think what's more important for him is the team winning - you can see he's a Liverpool fan.
"Maybe tomorrow he'll see it a bit differently. The Chelsea supporters acted with a bit of class."
