Chelsea have made a shock cash-plus-player swap bid for AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato. Milan-based Mediaset, which is owned by Rossoneri patron Silvio Berlusconi, revealed Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas sees Pato as the ideal strike-partner for Fernando Torres and they've tabled a bid for the Brazil international.
Chelsea are offering £20 million plus the choice of Nicolas Anelka or Salomon Kalou in exchange.
The stumbling block is the will of the Chelsea players, who are both reluctant to leave Stamford Bridge for Milan. Rossoneri chiefs also view the cash component of the offer as falling well shot of their valuation for Pato.
