Chelsea striker Eto'o on Man Utd hat-trick: I begged Mourinho to play me

Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o was thrilled with his hat-trick against Manchester United.

Eto'o is competing with Fernando Torres and Demba Ba for a starting spot at Chelsea - and admits he begged Jose Mourinho to play him against United.

He said: "I love the big games. Before the game I spoke with Jose and I told him I wanted to play this game.

"But it's tough when we have other great strikers like Fernando and Demba. It was good to get the opportunity to play and try and help the team win.

"The first goal took a deflection. The other two were good because I hadn't had much of the ball. But it was a real collective effort and to take the three points was the most important thing."
