Chelsea stars convinced of penalty: But we won't complain

Chelsea are convinced they should have had a penalty during last night's Champions League defeat at Inter Milan. Salomon Kalou was tripped in the area by Walter Samuel just before half-time - but Spaniard Manuel Gonzalez waved play on. Kalou's away goal still gives the Blues a good chance of progressing in this Champions League last-16 tie.

Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti complained: "I am sure it was a penalty but the referee did not blow his whistle and I don't want to talk about him.

"I know he is a very good referee with a lot of experience but we were very unlucky and I hope we will have better fortune in the return game.

"We played very well but this is not the result we had hoped for.

"We attacked all game and we will do the same at Stamford Bridge. We have a good chance to go through."

And cheeky Samuel even admitted: "It was a penalty but I like this referee."

Blues midfielder Frank Lampard insisted: "A penalty for us and a red card for their player would have made a massive difference.

"Salomon is sure he was tripped but what can we do?

"Maybe we deserved better but, hopefully, the crucial decisions will go our way in London."
