Chelsea saw off late Spurs bid to clinch Eto'o deal

Tottenham failed with a late bid to trump Chelsea for departing Anzhi striker Samuel Eto'o.

The Daily Star says reports suggest Eto'o has turned down advances from Spurs to link up with his old boss Jose Mourinho, who he played under at Inter Milan.

He is expected to have a medical today ahead of the £6.9m switch.

Eto'o is the world's highest paid footballer at Russian rich boys Anzhi but the club owner has decided on a change of policy, leaving him free to leave.
