John Terry has sent his best wishes to Rio Ferdinand and his family on behalf of the Chelsea Football Club.
Ferdinand's wife, Rebecca Ellison, passed away on Saturday after a short battle with cancer and Terry was quick to pay tribute to his former England teammate.
"I'd just like to, on behalf of myself and Chelsea Football Club, send our condolences to Rio Ferdinand and his family after the terrible news yesterday," Terry told Sky Sports after the Blues won the Premier League title on Sunday.
Ellison died aged 34 in a London hospital after batting breast cancer. She had three children with Ferdinand.
