Chelsea's Terry not interested in England return

John Terry insists he never thought about a potential international comeback following his England retirement.

The Chelsea captain stepped down from national team football in 2012 after having his captaincy taken away from him when surrounded by controversy for an alleged slur against then-QPR defender Anton Ferdinand.

At 34, Terry continues to defy his ageing years as evidenced by his goal and Man of the Match performance in the Capital One Cup win over Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday but admits representing the Three Lions again has not been an option.

"No. It's the simple answer," said Terry when quizzed on the possibility of an international return. "I don't want to go into it right now.

"Being back at Wembley, the atmosphere, the stadium, it's one of the best I have played in, but it's never crossed my mind.

"I have drawn a line under it and the England squad can move on now.

"I have missed it, playing in these big stadiums and in these competitions and I'm delighted to get back to Wembley.

"They started playing the national anthem before the game and I was going then."
