Hristo Stoichkov believes Jose Mourinho was a lot more than an assistant or an interpreter during Bobby Robson's reign as Barcelona manager.
The current Chelsea boss served under Robson at the Camp Nou in 1996 and enjoyed success in his role alongside the Englishman.
During his spell in Catalonia, Mourinho was honing his craft as a manager which former striker Stoichkov could already see from the outset.
"[I] do not think that Mourinho was a simple interpreter or assistant," he told Sunday Sport.
He was already a coach, but he never thought he was worth more than Robson.
"Mourinho understood everything. He knew everything about our team, and our opponents."
