Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic will serve a three-match ban after losing his appeal against a charge of violent conduct.
The Serbian was retrospectively booked for punching Wigan Athletic forward Shaun Maloney in the stomach during Saturday's clash at Stamford Bridge after the incident had been missed by referee Mike Jones and his assistants.
The Blues appealed the decision but today it was announced that Ivanovic will miss the next three matches, including Sunday's FA Cup semi-final with Tottenham, after being found guilty of violent conduct by a regulatory commission.
