Chelsea's Di Matteo unhappy with inconsistent FA after Ivanovic decision

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has labeled the Football Association 'inconsistent' following the three-match suspension handed to Branislav Ivanovic.

The Serbian was retrospectively charged with violent conduct for a punch on Wigan Athletic's Shaun Maloney during Saturday's controversial 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge and later found guilty with the defender receiving a hefty sanction.

The decision has irked Di Matteo who feels the FA need to review their system at the end of the season as it is not consistent with other aspects of the game.

"What you're looking for is consistency in the decisions they're making. You can go as deep as you want, but right now we can't change it," he said.

"Maybe they have to think about reviewing their system in the summer, and how they do it.

"When I spoke about consistency, you look at the images and you think 'Okay, we're using video footage for that, okay? But we don't use goal-line technology.'

"Why not? If we're using it for that, why can't we use it for the goals. So that's why it has to be reviewed. There has to be a more balanced look at it. And that's what they have to look at in the summer.

"But we just have to get on with the decision and take it. He's been having a very good season, playing very well for us, so he will be a very big loss for the team."
