Sylvain Distin has revealed he is not shocked that Chelsea have John Stones on their radar.

Everton young gun Stones shone for the Toffees last season and despite Roberto Martinez's wishes to keep him, his best efforts have resulted in serious interest from the Premier League champions.

Stones' former Toffees teammate Distin has commented that his excellent behaviour on and off the pitch will lead to him moving to a big club in the future, such as the London giants.

Distin told Sky Sports News: "He's young, English, full of qualities and a good guy as well."

"I've often said it's not enough to have quality on the pitch. Off the pitch you need to be grounded and a good person – and he is. So it's not surprising a big club has come in for him"

"It is a compliment and if he carries on the way he has started and keeps working, he'll end up at a big club, that's for sure."
