Chelsea are ready to pounce for Andrea Pirlo.
The Telegraph says Pirlo is expected to meet AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani on Wednesday to decide whether he should stay at the club or seek a move to Chelsea.
No official offer has yet been made for the 30-year-old Italian international, but he is understood to have discussed his future with Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti, his former Milan coach.
Pirlo was angered by comments by Silvio Berlusconi at the weekend that he may be sold this summer and is now believed to have decided that the rest of his career may, indeed, lie elsewhere.
