Chelsea's new contract offer to Frank Lampard includes a future coaching role.
The London Evening Standard says a 12-month extension has been offered to the 35-year-old, which includes a move to join the coaching set-up. However, it is believed to be for significantly less than the £150,000-a-week he has earned until now.
Chelsea remain optimistic that he will remain in the capital, but Lampard played an increasingly minor role under manager Jose Mourinho this season and the club are looking to find his long-term replacement this summer. They have already allowed veteran left back Ashley Cole to leave as a free agent as they build for the future and, significantly, Lampard - who turns 36 next month - is aware his time with Mourinho's side could be coming to an end.
