Chelsea midfielder Havertz: Hurts to see Rudiger and Werner to leave

Chelsea midfielder Kai Havertz says the players appreciated manager Thomas Tuchel's furious row with Tottenham's Antonio Conte a fortnight ago.

Both managers were sent off at the end of the game after an angry bust-up.

Havertz told Sky Deutschland: "It was great. When you see that the coach is doing everything off the pitch to try and help you win the game, it makes you double and triple your strength."

The midfielder was also asked about the departures of Germany teammates Antonio Rudiger and Timo Werner to Real Madrid and RB Leipzig respectively.

Havertz said: "That's how it goes for every player, you just have to respect them. Timo and Toni are friends, I found myself very well both on and off the pitch. That's why it hurts, they were people I saw every day for two years.

"For Toni it was a step forward, there is something very special about Real Madrid and he has been dreaming of it for a long time. That's why I can only wish him the best.

"I can always keep in touch and see them. New to the national team. So that's okay. Werner has already shown he can get close to 30 goals. At Leipzig there are different expectations, but he is a Champions League winner and has played for Chelsea. That's why there's expected a lot from him."
