Chelsea to meet Sydney FC in pre-season friendly

Chelsea will take on A-League club Sydney FC in a one-off friendly later this year.

The Blues, three-time winners of the Premier League title, will meet the Sky Blues at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on June 2 when the current campaign finishes for Jose Mourinho's men.

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck was thrilled to make the announcement regarding his club's return to Australian shores where they are likely to play having won their fifth English first division title.

"We are delighted to be returning to Australia for the first time in many years and look forward to playing at the iconic ANZ Stadium," he said.

"Australia is unchartered territory for the modern Chelsea, and I can't wait to see our many fans there as we show our appreciation for their long-distance support of the club.

"We are sure the team will put on an entertaining display as we end what has been a memorable campaign."
