Hamilton Academicals youngster James McCarthy is a target for Chelsea.

The Daily Record says Stamford Bridge scout Bryan 'Pop' Robson will be at New Douglas Park for the potential promotion decider with Clyde.

McCarthy, 17, is Scottish football's hottest property and has been watched by a number of big clubs in almost every game this season.

McCarthy spent a week on trial with Liverpool a year ago and scored in a bounce match, prompting boss Rafa Benitez to compare him with Reds skipper Steven Gerrard.
