Chelsea make late bid to trump Barcelona for Ozil

Chelsea have made a late bid to trump Barcelona for Werder Bremen ace Mesut Ozil.

The Times says Chelsea have acted quickly after Werder accepted a £10 million offer from Barca yesterday for the Germany international.

Chelsea have hired Vlado Lemic, a Serbian agent who is close to Werder chief Klaus Allofs, in an attempt to beat Barca for the midfielder.

Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti has worked closely with club owner Roman Abramovich on the deal and given Ozil's signing his approval.
