Chelsea made a cash offer for Barcelona striker David Villa last week, it has been revealed.
El Mundo Deportivo says a call from Chelsea was fielded at Barca HQ last week with a Blues powerbroker making a €30 million offer for Villa.
The bid was turned down flat by Barca, with Chelsea being referred to Villa's €200 million buyout clause.
Chelsea believed Villa was available with Barca struggling to find the cash needed to land Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez.
