Chelsea loanee Bamford only focused on Middlesbrough

Patrick Bamford has made it clear that his main focus is on Middlesbrough.

The 21-year old striker, on loan from Chelsea, won the 2014/15 SkyBet Championship Player of the Year award on Sunday night for his 17 goals for Teessiders this season.

There are doubts over whether Chelsea will recall Bamford next season with suggestions he could again be loaned out but the former Nottingham Forest youngster is not looking further ahead than the final two matches of the campaign.

"I'm just concentrating on Middlesbrough," he said.

"We've got our last two games, making sure we do our bit and hoping Bournemouth or Watford slip up.

"I don't know myself what will happen in the summer. It's a big thing to play for Chelsea. When I moved from Forest people said I went for the wrong reasons, but that wasn't the case and I hope to get that chance.

"I'd benefit most from playing, but that would be up to the people at Chelsea to decide what career plan they have for me."

Bamford's goals have helped Boro to third spot on the tier two table where they sit a point behind leaders Watford and equal with second-placed AFC Bournemouth.

Aitor Karanka's Middlesbrough side meet 18th-placed Fulham and 20th-placed Brighton & Hove Albion in their final two matches as they chase the title as well as automatic promotion to the Premier League.
