Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola feels Andre Villas-Boas is trying to spark Fernando Torres into life by axing him.
Zola claims that a snub from Villas-Boas might help inspire the Spaniard.
He explained to talkSPORT: "I'm sure the boss [Andre Villa-Boas] knows what he's doing.
"Sometimes players don't like to be dropped and, when they don't like something, they react. That's what Villas-Boas is trying to do with Torres.
"He wants a reaction from him and wants more from him."
