The race for the QPR job appears a battle between former Chelsea stars Mark Hughes and Gianfranco Zola.
The Sun says Neil Warnock was sacked by Rs owner Tony Fernandes last night and the Air Asia supremo wants Hughes to get QPR flying again.
Also in the frame is former West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola, who would bring Ray Wilkins with him as No 2.
Fernandes is ready to lay out big money to keep his Premier League strugglers in the top division.
But he did not trust Warnock to spend it and believes former Manchester City boss Hughes will attract a better calibre of player.
Hughes has been out of the game since quitting Fulham last summer because he wanted a bigger club.
He was hoping to get the Aston Villa job but lost out to Alex McLeish.
