Graeme Souness has praised Frank Lampard for getting the absolute most out of himself.

As the Manchester City midfielder approaches his final Premier League game next weekend, Liverpool great Souness was full of praise for the former Chelsea star who has enjoyed an enormously successful time in England's top flight.

"I never thought he'd reach the heights he has done," Souness said on Sky Sports' 'Super Sunday'.

"He deserves everything he's achieved. He's a scorer of big goals. On top of that, he'd appear to be a thoroughly good guy.

"He's ended up having a great career because of the hard work he's put in."
