Watford FC have reportedly placed Chelsea great Roberto di Matteo on a managerial short-list.

The Hornets have parted ways with Slavisa Jokanovic after refusing to agree his wage demands just weeks after he gained promotion to the Premier League with a second-place finish in the Championship.

Former Chelsea midfielder and manager Di Matteo, who was axed by German club Schalke yesterday, is said to be on the Hertfordshire club's radar.

Former Atletico Madrid coach Quique Flores is rumoured to be the front-runner for the post.
