Chelsea go after Roma pair with £70million deal

Chelsea is interested in acquiring Roma pair Radja Nainggolan and Antonio Rudiger, according to The Sun.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has recently revealed that he is going to be active in the transfer market this summer as he prepares his squad for the Champions League next season.

The report suggests the Italian could test Roma's mettle by offering the Serie A club £70million for the pair.

Belgian international Nainggolan was close to moving to Stamford Bridge last summer, but the Blues were unable to reach the £32million asking price.

"Yes, I spoke to him (Conte), they were really interested and wanted me over there," The midfielder told Sky Sports News.

"A lot of my team-mates play in England, it's the best league in the world, when the window opens, we will talk about it again."

Now that Roma has once again faltered in mounting a serious title challenge to Juventus, it has been reported that the 28-year old is ready for a change.

Conte is also looking for reinforcements in defence given John Terry's imminent retirement. Rudiger, 24, fits the bill as the strong and resolute defender Conte will need come next season. The German has made 23 Serie A appearances so far this season.
