Chelsea cough up extra £2M on new signing Courtois request

Chelsea are coughing up an extra £2 million to sign Racing Genk goalkeeper Thaibaut Courtois.

The Daily Mail says he had a medical in London on Sunday which will continue on Monday before he signs a five-year deal.

Chelsea will pay the Belgian club £9million - £2m more than planned as he has refused to go back on loan to Genk, citing a desire to play a higher standard of football.

He is expected to go out on loan elsewhere next season.
