Chelsea are confident of closing a deal for Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun in the coming days. The Daily Mail says Chelsea expect to tie up one deal with Liverpool before the World Cup, with Benayoun set to move to Stamford Bridge for £6m.

Carlo Ancelotti sees the Israel midfielder as an ideal replacement for Joe Cole, who has priced himself out of a new contract at Chelsea by demanding £120,000 a week.

Benayoun, who has three years left on the £75,000-a-week deal he signed last summer, is a cheaper option and is expected to return from holiday in Israel early next week to discuss personal terms.
