Chelsea coach Wilkins happy with translator's role

Chelsea coach Ray Wilkins is happy with his role as chief translator at Stamford Bridge.

Wilkins told chelseafc.com: "I think that is basically my role. When Peter [Kenyon] asked me to meet Felipe, it was the morning of the Bordeaux game, and Felipe wanted to meet me and just have a chat and see if I was the guy he wanted to come in and help - but it is the little things.

"I don't do much coaching, Felipe has foreign coaches and they do all the coaching.

"And full credit to them, they don't sit in offices, they get out in all types of weather and they do the coaching. Felipe does all the coaching with the boys, and first class coaching as well. The lads are absolutely loving it.

"But there will be times when the translation needs to be put across, and then I will help Felipe out as far as that is concerned. But I am just delighted to be back, it has been a long, long time, it has gone full circle since I was a young bloke playing here.

"I think we have seen a few changes over the years, and all for the better, but in general, I am just here to help these guys succeed, and I am sure they will.

"They are backed by a wonderful staff at Cobham and with their knowledge and their expertise we shouldn't have too many problems."
