Chelsea co-owner Goldstein reveals why Tuchel was sacked

Chelsea co-owner Jonathan Goldstein has explained the sacking of former manager Thomas Tuchel last month.

Tuchel's sacking came as a surprise given his success during his time at Stamford Bridge, winning the Champions League, a Super Cup, a Club World Cup and reaching back-to-back FA Cup finals and a League Cup final.

Goldstein, who is co-founder and CEO of Cain International, believes swapping Tuchel for new manager Graham Potter was the right decision and that the former Brighton boss can lead Chelsea to new heights.

"It's a decision we made as a group that we felt was in the best long-term interests of the club," Goldstein told Bloomberg. "Ultimately, you need to ensure there's complete harmony between management & the ownership group. We felt that wasn't right.

"And we are thrilled Graham Potter is now leading. He had a great win in the Champions League just the other night. And we are sure he will take the club onto greater heights."
