Chelsea football chief Michael Emenalo was in Spain yesterday to see Malaga draw 2-2 with Atletico Madrid.

AS says Emenalo was making a check on Atletico defender Joao Miranda.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be on the lookout for a new centre-back ahead of next season and sent Emenalo to Spain to run the rule over Atletico's Miranda, who has been a long-term target for the club.

Chelsea raided Atleti last summer to sign Diego Costa and Filipe Luis, who are two of Miranda's closest friends, and that could help the Premier League leaders in their attempts to persuade the defender to move to London.
