Chelsea cashed up but classless - ex-Arsenal star Wright

Former Arsenal star Ian Wright has had a crack at rivals Chelsea who he believes are a club with 'no class'.

The ex-England international let rip at the Blues in a recent column for The Sun, following the club's dismissal of assistant coach Ray Wilkins.

Wright wrote strong words against Chelsea, suggesting that owner Roman Abramovich basically runs the place and gives little respect for manager Carlo Ancelotti.

'Chelsea have once again proved they have loads of money but a shortage of class,' he wrote.

'I did not like the way they tapped-up both Ashley Cole and Sven Goran Eriksson or how Claudio Ranieri was treated when he was shoved out the door.

'Their latest example of behaving shabbily was the sacking of No 2 Ray Wilkins.

'Equally, Roman Abramovich has proved he has little respect for Carlo Ancelotti by removing Ray seemingly without the manager's approval.

'There is no way you could ever imagine the Glazers dismissing Mike Phelan without the knowledge of Alex Ferguson or Arsenal ignoring Arsene Wenger and kicking out Pat Rice.

'It just wouldn't happen. But it appears Ancelotti is only charged with team matters and these events over the last few days have merely weakened his position.

'Obviously there is more to this story than meets the eye but I cannot see why they could not at least let Ray see out his contract until the end of the season. I have no doubt several of the first team will have been extremely unhappy with the decision.'
