Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has paid tribute to Derby County manager Steve McClaren ahead of their FA Cup tie.
Mourinho sees the manner in which McClaren, who as coach at FC Twente in Holland and then at Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, rebuilt his career abroad after failing with England, as a perfect example for young home-grown managers.
"At the end of the day I almost forgot that he was England manager,' said Mourinho. 'If you ask me, the first thing that comes to my memory about Steve is not being the England manager but being champion in Holland.
"I think he did well. He disappeared from this country, he went to another one, he was champion. He went to Germany, where things didn't work very well but he reached again the Premier League in an important football country and now he's back in England."
