Chelsea boss Avram Grant is full of praise for new signing Nicolas Anelka - and midfielder Steve Sidwell - after their FA Cup victory over Wigan on Saturday.

Of matchwinner Anelka, Grant said: "One goal and one assist, he played very well.

"He is a proven striker and will score a lot of goals for us. We need him now more than ever because we are short - he is the only striker we have.

"The players are developing very well, they've got a good spirit and attitude. Shaun Wright-Phillips and Steve Sidwell have come in and played well."
