Chelsea boss Di Matteo says Champions League glory due to players

Chelsea boss Roberto di Matteo deflects praise to his players for winning the Champions League last season.

When it is pointed out to him that Jose Mourinho, Phil Scolari, Carlo Ancelotti and Guus Hiddink had all failed to deliver the Champions League for owner Roman Abramovich, Di Matteo simply shrugs.

The Italian told The Sun: "Such is life. I don't think there is an explanation for what happened.

"Ultimately, the players brought the trophy home and I was fortunate to be a part of it.

"We made history with a group of players that have been extraordinary for this club over the last decade. That achievement will always stand no matter what might happen in the future."
