Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti defended £50 million man Fernando Torres after he drew another blank last night against FC Copenhagen.
Torres was thrown on in the 68th minute for Nicolas Anelka and is still waiting to score his first Blues goal after six games since his £50million switch from Liverpool.
Ancelotti insists he relegated the Spaniard to the bench purely to keep him fresh to start in Sunday's Premier League clash against Manchester City.
The Italian added: "I decide my strikers game by game and who is fit. We have a fantastic squad.
"The players not involved from the beginning tonight will play on Sunday. If we want to achieve something, we'll need all the players with good motivation.
"Torres played well. He wanted to score and had some opportunities, some good movement."
