Newcastle United chief Lee Charnley hopes to land a top drawer striker signing in the coming weeks.
Toon have made signing a new centre-forward a priority.
The Evening Chronicle says United have identified 23-year-old Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette as one of their priority targets.
The club also want Hertha Berlin forward Pierre-Michel Lasogga - who is a German under-21 international - and have been quoted £20million for Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony.
Ironically they have also watched FC Twente's Dutch forward Luc Castaignos, who seems set for the Liberty Stadium in a deal worth £6.9million.
