Charlton Athletic boss Phil Parkinson hopes to hold onto teenage winger Jonjo Shelvey.
Parkinson rates the youngster ahead of new Aston Villa signing Fabian Delph, who was outstanding on debut against Fiorentina on the weekend.
Premier League trio Chelsea, West Ham and Tottenham have all been linked with possible moves for Shelvey.
Parkinson told reporters: "We want him to help us get promotion, because he will do.
"I've seen a lot of Delph and I would put Jonjo ahead of him. Delph went for £8million and Jonjo, in my eyes, is a better player.
"Chelsea were mentioned but I haven't had a call from Roman Abramovich. And West Ham couldn't afford him."
