Charlotte to host Man City v Liverpool friendly

Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium will host one of the 2014 Guinness International Champions Cup this summer.

The North Carolina venue will reportedly be home to a clash between two English Premier League clubs, Manchester City and Liverpool, with an official announcement to be made this week.

Kevin Langan, head coach of UNC Charlotte's men's soccer team, told the Charlotte Observer: "It's a wonderful coup for Charlotte.

"Charlotte and North Carolina have been among the country's top spots for soccer for a long time. This is proof of that. It shows what kind of pull this city has to bring in a game like this."

This year's version of the International Champions Cup sees Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan, AS Roma, Olympiakos, City and Liverpool come together between July 26 and August 4 across the USA.
