The AC Milan future of Marco van Ginkel is in limbo.

The on-loan Chelsea youngster is now rated as a first-choice by Milan coach Pippo Inzaghi and struck in victory over AS Roma on Saturday.

Van Ginkel has expressed a hope of extending his stay with Milan into next season.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport says confusion over the status of coach Inzaghi and Milan's ownership have put any such talks on-hold.

If delays persist, Chelsea may seek to send Van Ginkel on-loan to a Premier League rival next season.
