CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WRAP: Man Utd come from behind, Chelsea beaten and Barcelona edge Celtic

The first round of Match Day 3 fixtures in the Champions League were completed tonight with yet again a number of surprising results.

Manchester United used their comeback powers to great effect as they beat Sporting Braga 3-2 at Old Trafford thanks to a Javier Hernandez double.

Alan had the Portuguese two ahead after 20 minutes before Chicharito made it 2-1 five minutes later before he and Jonny Evans added two in the second half to give the Red Devils a great escape.

Reigning Champions League winners Chelsea were beaten 2-1 by Ukraine's Shakhtar Donetsk at the Donbass Arena with Alex Teixeira and Fernandinho doing the damage before a late Oscar consolation.

Scottish champions Celtic took it up to Barcelona at the Nou Camp but an extremely late Jordi Alba goal allowed the Catalan giants to record a 2-1 victory after Andres Iniesta cancelled out Giorgios Samaras' 18th minute opener.

Elsewhere, Spartak Moscow beat Benfica 2-1 courtesy of a Jardel own-goal, Juventus were made to work for a 1-1 draw with Danish outfit Nordsjaelland, Roberto Soldado netted a hat-trick as Valencia cruised past BATE Borisov 3-0, Thomas Muller's penalty allowed Bayern Munich to edge Lille 1-0 and CFR Cluj held Galatasaray to a 1-1 draw in a very wet Istanbul.
