CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Shakhtar through to quarter-finals at expense of Roma

Shakhtar Donetsk have cruised through to the Champions League quarter-finals with a 3-0 win over AS Roma at Donbass Arena tonight.

Shakhtar took up where they left off in the first leg by edging further ahead when Czech midfielder Tomas Hubschman played a deft little backheel into the back of the net after a Willian cross from a short corner.

Things only got worse for Roma when Philippe Mexes picked up a second yellow card in the 41st minute and was sent from the pitch, reducing the visitors to ten men.

In the 58th minute, Shakhtar went further ahead when Willian finished brilliantly with a curling shot from 15 yards to make it 5-2 on aggregate.

But the Ukrainians were not finished yet as Eduardo came off the bench, got on the end of a poor backpass from Aleandro Rosi and slotted past Doni to make it 6-2 on aggregate and book his side's spot in the final eight of the competition.
