CHAMPIONS LEAGUE RO16: Juventus make life difficult for Celtic

Italian champions Juventus have put one foot into the Champions League quarter-finals courtesy of a 3-0 victory over Celtic at Parkhead tonight.

The Old Lady heads back to Turin with an almost unassailable advantage considering their home form this campaign which has yielded 14 wins from 20 fixtures at Juventus Stadium in all competitions.

Alessandro Matri opened the scoring for the Bianconeri in just the third minute when he raced onto a ball from Federico Peluso before slotting underneath Fraser Forster and you would have thought that the Hoops would go into their shell.

However, Neil Lennon's men stepped up their game and were actually the better of the two sides for much of the remainder of the encounter until Claudio Marchisio made it 2-0 in the 77th minute when he received a sublime pass from Matri prior to cutting back and powering past Forster.

Juventus then put the contest beyond doubt six minutes later when Marchisio pounced on a defensive error from Efe Ambrose, who just returned from Nigeria's African Cup triumph, to play in Mirko Vucinic to wrap it up.

Despite a decent showing throughout the 90 minutes, bar a few defensive blunders, Celtic will be up against in Turin on March 6 as they look to keep their Champions League dream alive.
