CHAMPIONS LEAGUE - QF 2nd LEG: Man Utd outclassed by champions Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich are into the semi-finals of the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League after defeating Manchester United 3-1 at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

The reigning European and recently-crowned Bundesliga champions are into the final four of Europe's premier club competition for the fourth time in five years as they chase a sixth title.

Last week's 1-1 draw at Old Trafford had David Moyes' United in with a strong chance of pulling off a shock in Munich and despite a temporary scare, Pep Guardiola's side got the job done to secure a 4-2 aggregate triumph.

Against the run of play, Patrice Evra had the Red Devils ahead when he beautifully half-volleyed home Antonio Valencia's cross in the 57th minute as the visitors attacked on the counter.

However, less than a minute later and Bayern were back on level terms courtesy of Mario Mandzukic who got on the end of Franck Ribery's cross to head past David De Gea making it 1-1 on the night and 2-2 on aggregate.

Bayern decided to take it up a gear and it paid dividends as they edged ahead with just over 20 minutes remaining when Arjen Robben produced an inviting ball across the box for Thomas Muller to slot home.

Then the home side produced the killer blow in the 76th minute thanks to Robben who whizzed past Evra and Nemanja Vidic before slotting into the corner to send Bayern into yet another semi-final.

The Bavarian giants will now come up against either Real Madrid, Chelsea or Atletico Madrid as they look to book a ticket in the May 24 final at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.
