Champions League can help my England chances - Celtic's Forster

Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster believes qualifying for the Champions League will lift his chances of being considered for future England squads.

The 24-year old was overlooked by Roy Hodgson for the midweek friendly against Italy but feels that if the Hoops can overcome Swedish club Helsingborgs in their Champions League play-off, he might find himself vying for an international cap or two.

"It's not my decision at the end of the day," said Forster who will take on Ross County in the Scottish Premier League on the weekend before turning his attentions to the first leg of the CL qualifier on Tuesday.

"But it is one of my ambitions, I have stated it clearly before.

"All I can do is play well for Celtic and keep knocking at the door.

"There could be any reason (for being ignored) but it can only help me if we get into the Champions League that can only benefit me and progress me as a player."
